Should I get a WII? or wait for the new version?

I would wait for the Wii U because after the Wii U is released the original Wii and wii games will probably be taken off the shelf probably within a year after the Wii U is released. There may be a few problems you will run into with getting the Wii U though. The Wii U will be more expensive (probably in the $300-400 range) and there will be limited quantities of the Wii U being sold (as there typically are with new consoles). There are many advantages of waiting too. If your investment is for the long term then the Wii U would be the best option. It will be an HD console and is supposed to be 50% more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360.
